Thai Immigration to be digitised with new App to cut Border Queues

Updated: 4 days ago

The Thailand Immigration Management System (THIM) is the Thai Immigration Bureau’s official digital platform and mobile app, designed to streamline and modernize border entry and long-stay services. It allows travelers to digitally submit arrival cards prior to landing and provides future “super-app” capabilities.

THIM
Key Features and Capabilities
  • Digital Arrival Card: Replaces tedious paper forms. You submit your arrival information before reaching the border, cutting registration time to under three minutes. [1, 2]

  • One-Time Profile Registration: Unlike older web-based digital arrival cards, THIM uses AI-powered passport scanning to create a profile once. On subsequent trips, only minimal details need updating. [1, 2]

  • Group Applications: Families and business groups can group multiple travelers together under a single trip. [1]

  • Future Immigration Super-App: The system is expanding to include features like e-Extension (visa extensions), appointment booking, and 90-day reporting, minimizing in-person visits to immigration offices.

How to Use It
  1. Download: The THIM app is available for download on both Apple App Store and Google PlayStore for Android devices.

  2. Register: Scan your passport and fill out your personal profile once.

  3. Submit: Enter your arrival details for your upcoming trip. The data syncs directly with immigration officers’ systems, allowing them to verify your arrival form automatically when they scan your physical passport at the counter.

Note: For the latest requirements and step-by-step guidance, refer to the official Royal Thai Police Immigration Bureau resources.
