Exciting Updates on Thailand's Visa Exemption Scheme for Tourists and Yacht Owners
Navigating Thailand's Revised Visa Policies
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has shared important news for foreign visitors. Thailand’s Cabinet has approved changes to the 60-day visa exemption scheme, which has been in place since July 2024. These revised entry conditions will take effect 15 days after publication in the Royal Gazette. Until then, the current entry conditions remain unchanged. Once implemented, countries and territories that were previously covered by the 60-day scheme will revert to the entry conditions that were applicable before the program began.

The new framework categorizes each country or territory into a single visa exemption category. Nationals from 54 countries and territories will now be eligible for a 30-day visa exemption. Meanwhile, nationals from three countries or territories will qualify for a 15-day visa exemption. Additionally, separate bilateral agreements will still provide visa exemptions ranging from 14 to 90 days, depending on the specific arrangement.
For those who need it, the Visa on Arrival option will still be available for nationals of four countries or territories.

Understanding the Visa Review Process
The Visa Policy Committee, led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, will review visa arrangements on a country-by-country basis. This review will consider both security and economic factors. If you are a foreign national currently in Thailand, or if you enter before the new measures take effect, you will be allowed to stay for the duration of your existing permitted stay.
It’s essential to stay informed. Visitors are encouraged to monitor official announcements from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Royal Thai Embassy or Royal Thai Consulate in their country of residence for updates on entry requirements that apply to their nationality. TAT will provide further updates once the revised measures are officially published in the Royal Gazette.
